Guest bigda Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 Actions speak louder than words, I don't think you will change anyone's perception of us or our pigeons by "telling" them anything. People see pigeons with rings on their legs in town squares, that translates as pigeon fanciers not being responsible. Just like when they see a dog taking a crap in the park = irresponsible owner. Full stop. i am not worried about anyone, other than the rpra perception mate ill tell you this mate the people who show the streeters go out there way to find the ugly"s "c " they can find to show and should they choose to film one with a ring on it, it would make them look dumb. as the condition dose not portray the effect, but some day, you might find it in your self to give this your total support but don"t worry your self about our plight
Glassfeather Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 The tv program is seen by a minority, pigeon fanciers are a minority, to a non-pigeon fancier, one pigeon is pretty much like the next, they just don't differentiate. I'm not talking about a few people who saw something on tv, I'm talking about the people who see damage caused by pigeons on a daily basis, who see the figures, the expense, of trying to keep them off buildings. Perhaps you ought to concern yourself with their perception, because if it ever finds its way into parliament again, they will be voting for the guy who takes it there. That's all.

That's all. why do you bother about the pigeons on the buildings the fact here is as you say the public cant differentiate between ,both that is our fault, for not advertising the difference and drumming it in enough that they are different, and if we are to pay the piper we shall call the tune that i have no doubt, as every one knows the more you show the more will be more understanding, the difference and thats what it will take the advertising moneys, will come from the feed merchants and studs and from all who make a living from pigeons and seen your are concerned about Parliament ask them this if the pigeon man goes who fills there place when it comes to charity, hope you find this piece of information informative enough but will let you know if your assistance be required .
Guest bigda Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 Yes, I expect you are right. cheers mate this is going to be a struggle sad as it is, how Manny fanciers, are going to ask for this to be mentioned at there agm or to there affiliations, hope there are some out there with the pigeons welfare at heart that can get this off the ground and started maybe the new boss might take up the challenge and set a precedence for the RPRA IN THE YEAR 08
jimmy white Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 i thought the programme was quite good ,especialy for non_fanciers ,,ive had a few neighbours ,friends etc, tell me they found it very interesting . im sure if they made a prog, on the war pigeons in relationship with the modern day fanciers , and the races they compete in ,i,e distance , most non fanciers would be amazed , off course it would be handy to mention that the hawks invariably caught some of these pigeons , and allthough many lifes were saved because of our winged heros, many more might have been saved because of the hawks, killing the messenger pigeons carrying the vital messages,,,,,of course these hawks have multiplied in their hundreds as they are protected, but still killing racing pigeons ,maybe flying 600 miles only to be killed maybe a mile from home :-/ :-/ :-/
