jimmy white Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 the old story ,,,,,,,,,,,,is it pigeon , management, or luck in my opinion , in these races not a lot of luck involved, i would say, the pigeon is as important as the management. and the management as important as the pigeon b4 these long distance races, i selected 6 members to be in well, the 6 are in well
Tony C Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 Management or pigeon? I believe when your both in sync with each other results follow. Its no good trying to improve your stock without trying to improve yourself as a fancier, both are equally important. Luck doesn’t play any part in pigeon racing. Start believing yourself and your pigeons being unlucky is a ready made excuse. To say you were unlucky not to win in my eyes makes the winner lucky and that’s just not the case. There’s a reason why your pigeons were behind and your better of trying to find the cause than cursing your bad luck.
Guest Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 Personally, i think its down to the fancier a lot of the time but it is essential to have good pigeons to start with and then just that bit of luck to assist you.
Guest IB Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 I think all three. You had a previous thread about 2 year olds, Jimmy? Started this year with 4 all going to Alencon. None of them made it to the race, dropped them beforehand, so thats down to me and the birds, and luck doesn't come into it. My next race was to be Ypres. Reckoned to be just a bit further than Lille, maybe 480 miles? So I was going with yearlings - till I phoned SHU last Monday and was told it was 547 miles??? Reckon thats too far for these yearlings, so put OBs on back burner, no training etc. Got the invoice for my distance yesterday, discovered I've been given Alencon distance (547 miles) not Ypres. Basket day is Wednesday 2nd July, so I've missed the boat with my two candidates as I don't think they are fully prepared. Think that's where the luck bit comes in. Had I got the right distance, they would have been.
