Diydave Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 here we are 3 weeks away from racing young birds and i still have no loft number officially,. in april i applied to join my local club in south cheshire, as soon as i wasd accepted i pid all my fees by cheque, having asked the secretary on three occasions if there was any notice of my region /rpra loft number, the answer was "i will chase it up" , here we are in july , !!! and this last week i contacted the region myself, to see if my club secretary had notified them , they told me what my loft number will be, BUT, my club needs to send the fee !! , my gripe is that i need 2 weeks plus to transfer my young birds, plus get my loft location (i asked sec twice), plus distances to apply for, my clock needs testing , should i perservere with this club , or should i ask for my money back and join an alternative club who may be up to speed ? dave
pjc Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 I would perservere with it, take your clock to the sec and tell him you intend to send to the first race. Also send any transfers to the RPRA, they will register the birds to you with or without a loft number so that you can race them. Phil
nmd Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 mate i would get my money back and go elsewhere. cant understand why they would not just send your fee away. especially coming so close to ur first race
pjc Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 If the application has been accepted you are a members of the club and liable to fees, they are very unlikely to give you them back, just force there hand by turning up to race!
Diydave Posted July 5, 2008 Author Report Posted July 5, 2008 thanks pjc , BUT ? how can i race if the club has not paid my fees in time to get an official loft number , allowing me time to transfer my pigeons ?? i might eventually let it be known who this secretary is , a well known national member
pjc Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 The RPRA will register the birds to you with or without a loft number, they may even contact the region for one. As I said you have paid your fees so you are entitled to race, its the clubs problem if things arn't in order not yours. Why should you be penalised for there lack of action? Phil, a long suffering sec!
Diydave Posted July 5, 2008 Author Report Posted July 5, 2008 thanks phil, having kept pigeons and raced from leeds throughout my life following on from my dad bernard thorton, and my grandfather frank thornton, then giving up , due to unforseen circumstances, this new start just seems to be hard work, the big plus is , having already experienced young bird sickness three week ago, my pigeons which were donated free of charge from 2 local fanciers are an exceptional team of 21, and i can boast a 100% record of twice 9 mile on the day training !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
pjc Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 good luck and keep up the good work, just persivere with your aims Phil
Guest strapper Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 im a sec myself...ur distances should have been sorted by now!! ur birds should have been transferred and injected(which is down to urself) as its a rule that they have to be vaccinated 14 days b4 u intend to race. it sounds to me ur sec has been dragging his/her backside and should have as soon as u paid, got ur distances and wot ever sorted!! i would contact the secretary asap and ask that ur distances be sorted as uve got 2 weeks to go b4 racing,if they stall on doing this then u will be in ur right to withdraw ur application and demand ur money back. the club has took over the responsibility of getting u sorted for racing with distances etc, because they have accepted u and took a payment from u. hope u get it sorted.
Diydave Posted July 5, 2008 Author Report Posted July 5, 2008 thanks strapper , exacually what i thougt
Diydave Posted July 5, 2008 Author Report Posted July 5, 2008 this area has an exceptional record nowadays and from past history has had exeptional pigeons, and fanciers, myself , being from yorkshire and from 3 genersions of damned good fanciers, i would just love to see a smiooth acceptaple welcoming reception , the way i see it at the moment is not that except for a few >> shall i name them ??
Guest spin cycle Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 pjc is right you should stick with it for the time being. has the cheque gone through your account ? the club has accepted payment i know but it gives you more 'leverage' if they've banked it (i pay my fees by cheque and sometimes its a couple of monthes before it goes through). when i started i bought 6 from louella and they sorted out a temporary loft no. (it just arrived in post) as i had no loft no. we're having trouble at the moment getting distances etc for a new member whose loft we marked ages ago...so it may not be entirely the clubs fault. have they been round with a map to *expletive removed* your loft ? if you,ve friends in the club they could lend you a clock if yours isn't tested. distances can be got by e mail (i think) why not invite the sec. round for a and see if you can 'help' him get them by using your computer. unfortunatly the club may be just 'dragging its heels' but i wouldn't start naming...ever.
