DOVEScot Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 http://www.number10.gov.uk/Page16471 You would think that the goverment would pass on all the voting information to the relevent bodies :-/
Peckedhen Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 Nah, they just pass the buck, as usual!
Bluedoo Posted August 13, 2008 Author Report Posted August 13, 2008 You would think that the goverment would pass on all the voting information to the relevent bodies :-/ They probably tried but lost it.

I,ve had this problem with a few other sites as well. Wednesday 13 August 2008 pigeonracing - epetition reply We received a petition asking: “We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to officially recognise pigeon racing as a sport.” Details of Petition: “Pigeon Racing is not currently classed as a sport. I wrote to Mr Blair a few years back now, and didn’t have much of a response. Keeping racing pigeons, and preparing them for a race takes a lot of time and effort by the owner / keeper of the pigeons. So why Pigeon Racing can’t be classed as a sport is beyond me. Please could you take a close look at this, and hopefully change the way it stands now. Thanks.” · Read the petition · Petitions homepage Read the Government’s response Decisions on whether particular activities and pastimes should be recognised as sports are made by unanimous agreement between the home country sports councils, and it would be inappropriate for Government to intervene in this matter. Any decisions to fund recognised sports are made by the individual home country sports councils. In the first instance, I would recommend a submission to the relevant sports council, outlining the case for recognising pigeon racing. The sports council will be able to provide information on the criteria for recognition of an activity as a sport. In this instance they can be contacted at: Sports Council for Wales Sophia Gardens Cardiff CF11 9SW Tel: 0845 045 0904 Fax: (0845) 846 0014 E-mail: scw@scw.org.uk The other Sports Councils are: Sport England 3rd Floor Victoria House Bloomsbury Square London WC1B 4SE Tel: 020 7273 1551 Fax: 020 7383 5740 Email: info@sportengland.org Irish Sports Council Sport Northern Ireland House of Sport 2a Upper Malone Road Belfast BT9 5LA Tel: 028 90 381222 Fax: 028 90 682757 E-mail: info@sportni.net sportscotland Caledonia House South Gyle Edinburgh EH12 9DQ Scotland Tel 0131 317 7200 Fax 0131 317 7202 Email - library@sportscotland.org.uk

OLDYELLOW Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 igot a mail from my mate gordon at no 10 just now ,passing it off to the different sports councils just great eh? well looks like he couldnt pass it on to the sports council , i supose as we arent a sport we arent a buisness so perhaps he could take back the taxs demands off us at the same time
grizzle_hen Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 Now that there's been a response from 'No 10' and have been told to contact the relevant sports councils, why don't we set up something to go to each of the sports councils? As we have enough people on here from all over the UK to get in contact with the sports councils, we could select one member to represent england, wales, northern ireland and scotland, and then again draw up a petition for each part of the UK and present it to them? I would be happy (with the help of Richard) to get this done. Also, what are the advantages and disadvantages (if there are any) of pigeon racing being classified as a sport?
OLDYELLOW Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 well it would be turned down as a sport as we have too many divisons i.e no one set of rules and one governing body , i would love to have it recognised as a sport but the sport council will also be worried about fanciers asking to fund clocks and new stock lofts ectra where would the funding stop ? i know we should state that as a individual sport that no funding would be nessersary from the sports council to premote our sport or fund any members needs
Guest casbri Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 they are passing the buck to the sports council

Also if there was support from the sports council, it would be easier to promote the sport and other things like that :-/
grizzle_hen Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 they are passing the buck to the sports council Of course they've passed the buck, thats all the government does, but you can't let it stop you
OLDYELLOW Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 we cant be taken serious till we have one representing body then we will have the foundation for a sport , diffrent bodies different rules ectra. I think we all need to address the need for more than one governing body with our unions , or the alternative is to start a new unions for all but the danger lies in any new organisations rings would not be recognised by the R.P.R.A and im sure not all would welcome a progresive change
Guest Paulo Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 they are passing the buck to the sports council Thats what politcians are good at the old backside covering lol

OLDYELLOW Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 there may be a confederation of unions but as the rules for each union differ then there is not one set of rules , so the confederation does not give a level playing field for all. Many different rules regarding ets at the moment in each union also thimbless t3s , Scotland not allowed to address stamp there birds , gb supposed to be flown stamped clearly , nehu arent allowed to write there own bird list out if i was to sit down with all these different rules they be hundreds of diffrences
ChrisMaidment08 Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 maybe but why were they set up what do the do why are they paid by unions but have it seems no power
OLDYELLOW Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 better to be a partner of a confederation and a going concern than be ate up by one body , whu head office portacabin ? nehu has own property so does gb as for others i dont know , but how do you get all to be one ? all should be in one central location under one set of rules , it would save thousands just on council tax alone, then they could look at transportation, liberation , and look towards fed inland racing and how best to reduce transporters on the road and national channel racing
ChrisMaidment08 Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 well i thought thats what they were about in the long run
Webmaster Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 I'd heard the one governing body to be a sport thing a few months back, just thinking of it now though amuses me, we're told to contact Sport, England, Wales, Scotland..... one governing body??? ;D
OLDYELLOW Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 untill racing pigeons come under one set of rules , one organisation , with a good infra structure we wont become a sport , i suppose we can either aproach our unions with our ideas but i think there doors be shut as ' they be alright jack as long as you want rings and rules ' as they wont want to vanish and be moved or jobless
