Guest spin cycle Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 lots of threads on here selling birds and people talking about those that sell....but who buys these pigeons? after 3 years i've to many birds....the last thing i want to do is buy more. last year i was given some excellent stock and people still offer me ybs....was i just lucky as a new starter? my team is competitive clubwise and i've had few losses...but next year i'll be flying classics . perhaps i'm not flying/selecting hard enough...but i fly for fun rather than to be 'MR BIG'. everybody i know has plenty of birds....are we unusual (no rude answers )
OLDYELLOW Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 i would of said too many at begining of season as i had moved house i moved more birds than i required and removed my sprinters just to concentrate on distance racing. A few new additions to my family of birds for next season to try , but i feel i have enough i have 34 ybs left at the moment lost 5 ybs racing 2 training so am quite happpy as i need yearlings for next year.
retired Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 I have put could cut down a little - im nearly where i want to be but have had to make some tough decisions to get there - I have plenty of loft space and no overcrowding but i base my answer on what i feel comfortable managing.
Taylorsloft Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 i think were all guilty of keeping to much pigeons .we breed to many cos the losses are to high ive got 62 at the moment with 2 races to go .old/bird stock etc
pjc Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 At this time of year we could all prob cut down a bit but until the season is over and we know whats left it is difficult to cut down to numbers for next year. Also with the Show Racers, they are heavy in moult at the moment but another months time and they will be sorted into show teams for the coming season. Phil
