i think you should be made a member straight away, i thought pigeon racing was crying out no screaming out for new members

The less members a club has the more chance a member has of winning... ;D

see what sec says when he rings you back, but I would get your application in writing to the sec.

I will give the secretary some time to sort things out then pop round his house with an application. He only lives just round the corner.

scoobybob, the sec sounds out of date as the RPRA fee has gone up to £10 which is the fee he has qouted you for membership to the RPRA enableing you to get rings.

If you download the form and fill it in, send it to me and i'll get it signed for you.

Phil

The £10 fee to the RPRA is for individual membership, the £4.50 is what you pay if you are a member of a club.

Just heard back from the secretary. Looks like I'm on my own... >:( I have to ring redings (think thats RPRA) and sort membership and rings with them. My application for club membership will be looked at next January. I sometimes wonder is it worth it..

Scoobybob, I would e-mail Peter Bryant at the RPRA and tell him the situation, explain you are also new to the sport etc.

If he is not made aware of these cases then this will never change!

Then also ask him where there are other clubs in your area that you may be able to join and sure be made welcome at!

Taken your advice and sent an Email to GM at RPRA.

I was also advised to join rpra. Was told I could get rings from them but must be a member. So went to there site and downloaded the membership forms. Cost £10 to join but you need 2 members to propose you. As I know nobody with pigeons its unlikely I will get 2 proposers. I may get from my local club but I'm not permitted to join till next year. Seems hard work trying to get into pigeon racing.

Contact you RPRA Region Secretary. They should help you out. Miss Edwards (RPRA West Mid Region) did for me. I sent the form without any members signing. This does make you an individual member, but at least you can have your own loft number and the rings you do get can be transferred to you. And you say you don't know any pigeon members! There's loads here! I'll sign for you  ;D If you get to be an individual this year you can always race some youngsters in the Open races in your area (if they are ready) plus you don't have to pay any other fees until you join the club other than your £10.

On light of the club I joined and they held an emergency meeting the following Wednesday night (this was back in 96) I was signed on instantly. I was not racing, but I helped out at the club alot. Marking rings, sealing baskets stuff like that.

I did hear from RPRA with advice to send straight to the SW area. So I ended up doing the same as you. Now waiting for membership card to come through.
