grizzal Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 We all no its wrong, but what alot of fanicers do is breed 10 extra YBS to cover for loses. when i first started our top flyer had 9 wh cocks and 12 ybs, thats a small team ;D. I think it also depends on what distances you fly, and what methods, and how many clubs you belong to. Ourselves we will start with 12 pairs and 24ybs

I think it also depends on what distances you fly, and what methods, and how many clubs you belong to. Ourselves we will start with 12 pairs and 24ybs yes,, off course this does apply but there is a limit to what one person can both look after, and give full justice to,,,,when it goes to the other end of the scale, there are some, even , inexperienced fliers trying to fly more than 100 yb,s,] with about the same amount of o,bs] i really believe is asking for trouble , which they would soon find out,,far too many for one man to give justice to,,,,,,,,, off course we have the fanciers who have the money, have the space, can pay for help.. and usually sell pigeons , but these can still be beaten by the wee man if their pigeon minded and shrewd enough
jakjak Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 12 widowhoods cks........3 training tosses from 15 miles......then no more training Lost 3 at first race, lost 2 at 3rd race.... 7 widowhood cks went on to win 5 x 1st from 12 races...and other prizes (all yearlings) this was against teams of 30 up to 70!! the last 4 races, the same 5 widowhood cks came together! QUALITY NOT QUANTITY
OLDYELLOW Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 I guess some people have to rely on the quantity to get the quality and the only way they can do it is buy sending more pigeons , have seen it myself on allotments a good flyer had some realy top birds but still needed numbers i would of loved to gone in and got rid of the ones that were no good , as i believe he would of done even better when his numbers were down and the quality was back up.
