COTTONHEAT Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 It has been brought to our attention that adverse comments have been made against Birdstall regarding the recent “Children in Need†auction and as the Seller has not seen fit to defend us in any way, we would just like to set the record straight for those who made bids on the Lots on offer. Firstly, it would appear that no mention has ever been made of the fact that Birdstall willingly offered the use of our auction site free of any charges. Secondly, the auction did not close one hour early because of software problems.Regards, Birdstall
pjc Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Lets see what the organiser has to say now then!
The Navigator Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 As the final list of winners and prices been published for this!!!
Guest Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 And how much is being deducted for expenses and what the final donation figure is. And who the chuff is Birdstall, does this person have the authority to speak for Andrew Hitchcock
superstar Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 And how much is being deducted for expenses and what the final donation figure is. And who the chuff is Birdstall, does this person have the authority to speak for Andrew Hitchcock Sounds like he employed their services at cost and pulled a flanker on ending the auction early. Glad I didn't get involved in that one!
bewted Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 i said long ago that fanciers on here were being conned by a certain fancier,,,,,no one listened then !!!!!
Guest strapper Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 i think it showed wot can happen when auctions go outside this site. i think members will know next time when someone tries to have an auction on here from elsewhere.
superstar Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 i said long ago that fanciers on here were being conned by a certain fancier,,,,,no one listened then !!!!! Well if it is found to be corrupt then he should be gone simple as! People have been banned for much less than that. Personally Ted I wouldnt touch with a barge pole so some listened and observed.
pjc Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 I think there are a lot of members on here who would have supported the sale and have done in the past if it had been held on here but self promotion in the name of charity is out of order and then to pass the blame just about sums it up!

Webmaster Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 I have searched and found only one comment that questioned if it was the Birdstall website that was the problem in the auction ending early. As in the first post in this topic, Birdstall deny this. Andrew did clearly thank Birdstall in his final outcome post. I think that speculating to the detriment of Andrew, on what little we know I think is unfair, therefore I shall lock this post until he is able to come on and give us some more facts on the matter. If you have any questions about the auction, I suggest forward them in a PM to him.
Guest Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Well for me I'm more concerned that things are run right than threats . Where is the audit trail for the auction. Andrew says there will be no deductions, however the original tems and conditions did say all monies paid less expenses, if he has absorbed expenses I congratulate him. I've just gone to Andrew's link where he says the terms are and I can't see them, perhaps Andrew you can a) show the link and point me to where the link is for the audit trail i.e the final bids. This is a serious matter as far as I'm concerned and not one that can be brushed under the carpet. Dovescott is quite right you take the rough with the smooth some you get on with others you don't that's life. It is importnat that the audit trail i.e. the final bidding sequence on each lot is visible and also a statement is made as to the total amount raised and the date and where paid in to the children in need fund. That should be made on this and any other site you used to publicise the auction. You are outside the realms of pigeon racing now, you have publicly been raising money for a national charity famous worldwide.

I am sure Andrew will supply any info needed, he may incur expenses for the running of the auction but not for himself maybe, comeon Andrew put this to rest :-/
