Guest Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 i like the idea of ypes as its a good distance to try out some yearlings (about 480 i think ?) the next shortest is falaise at 580. ok for the older birds im on about the channel only dave
Ian McKay Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Hi Willie Willie can you tell me that if it is the committees proposal to have 2 races on the same weekend i.e. Tours and Ypres is it there plan to have the pigeons go in the same transporter as what happened last year. cheers Gareth Yes Gareth
walterbmasson Posted January 4, 2009 Author Report Posted January 4, 2009 tours for the longest flying fanciers it takes 3 4 5 6 year old birds and older not many survive 2 or 3 years old now due to hawks and all the other obsticles they have to endure but ypres you would have birds to go every year and should please everyone also a good thing to give non members a chance to enter as the following year they could become members of the snfc only national open to the whole of scotland

Guest IB Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 I think you will find the snrpc has a race for yearlings has had for 2 years mate it was my proposal to do this , my thinking was for that reason to get never mind just yearlings ,2 year olds, late breds, some of the inland boys to maybe have a go and get them hooked into channel racing.sorry for mentioning snrpc on snfc thread 100% behind your thinking. Yes, run principally as a Yearling National, but open to all ages.
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Yes Gareth Thanks for the confirmation Ian.

From Ian's reply seems this is the plan for this year too. I agree with you that it is bad enough having all our channel races within a month, without 2 on the same weekend. I think this arrangement is down to minimising transport costs, and I think there are better transport solutions than that. I note that there is a post advocating Tours be dropped. As the longest race we can't do that, but I think it should be replaced by a longer race, giving central Scotland a chance to compete at 700 miles, and I think this could be done by perhaps a joint enterprise with SNRPC, or going with one of the English organisations to their longest race. Hopefully this will achieve a different date, and a better spread between our first and last channel races.
Williedoo Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Sorry Gareth justy home from work but see your question was answered.
sj irving jnr Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 like the ideas,as you said ib we could drop the tours race(have ypres on tours week) and if possible go to saints with the nfc along with the snrpc what does people think? that would save transporter costs and it could be a race where the 2 national clubs come together,in this day and age i think we have to do that.
Williedoo Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Personally,I would rather go to Ypres than Eastbourne.
Guest IB Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Personally,I would rather go to Ypres than Eastbourne. With Ypres there, do we really require 2 Inland Nationals?
Guest Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 i agree willie i think there is only about 20 miles difference to us dave
Williedoo Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Could mybe get the boat at Rosyth,if its back on.
walterbmasson Posted January 4, 2009 Author Report Posted January 4, 2009 its getting better willie the fanciers flying the shortest distances would like there birds to navigate the water it will make the widowhood boys have a goas well the race i would get rid of is newburgh the distance is just not far enoughfor the shortest flyers 240 mls at least eastbourne gives the shortest dist 330mls on the same lines willie but it would be up to what the fanciers in the south thinks as to what they want as fair nationals aspossible
