PATTY BHOY Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 has any of the members tried crossing a Busschaert with the van reet, was it a good cross with good race winners.
just ask me Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 if there good racers them selves your allways in with chance but to say one strain goes well with another i think is wrong like anything u have to get your hands on a line in that strain and really can busschaerts be called a strain in the real sence of the word
Guest strapper Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 has any of the members tried crossing a Busschaert with the van reet, was it a good cross with good race winners. personally i believe that both breeds are some of the best racing breeds ever. ive crossed them and they have done well,to top ten fed level.
pjc Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 when you look for a cross you need to know what you are crossing for! Are you crossing to gain more distance or just need a little more speed for sprinting etc, when you have decided then look for the birds that excell in that field and use them as a cross. Phil
PATTY BHOY Posted January 30, 2009 Author Report Posted January 30, 2009 with these 2 strains i was thinking, getting distance and speed.
pjc Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 Buschaerts will do all distances if treated the right way and of the right breeding where as Van Reets tend to be more sprint/mid distance which could detract from the Buschaerts distance ability. It all depends on the type of racing you are aiming for.
jimmy white Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 i beleive that many of our so-called breeds can be very inbred,, any cross is worth trying from decent pigeons,, the hybrid vigour
