les Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 I know one or two things about hawks as I flew them for quite a while. The hawk will keep coming back as long as you have pigeons. Easy pickings with a worst case scenario resulting in your birds finding somewhere else to live I know someone who used to keep a canary behind a plate of of glass in the avairy of his pigeon loft. Sparrowhawks can't see the glass, they would come screaming in at some serious pace and brain themselves when they hit the glass pane. He used to have a tub of water under the glass pane which teh hawk would fall into and the problem was solved. Now I don't know what the legal side of this is so I would encourage you to investigate to be on the safe side as I don't want you to break the law but the method does work.that is a new one on me, seen it done with a fish tank up side down and a bird in side ,yours sound verry good ,but it will fall on deaf ears.ATB les.

LnK Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 Hi, I know I maybe a newbie, but when I was getting unwanted visitors (buzzard and squirrels) what I did was download some sounds from the internet and put them on a cd and repeated pasting the calls again and again on the CD, then what I did was put the cd player in the garden shed and pressed play then replay so the cd palyed over and over. I did this during daylight hours for about a week to 10 days at first then every couple of weeks for a day or so. Hey presto - no more problems I don't no how it worked but it did. I did not get any unwanted visitors all summer last year . Will try it again this summer if needs be The problem with sparrowhawks is that they are brainless, bombproof and will give anything a go. I was once out flying a female peregrine and one came and had a do. The best way to get rid of the problem is to get rid.
