hepste Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 I happened upon a master brewer yesterday, and asked of him where I could get hold of some malting barley, as I'd heard it was good for the birds. I was hoping for a simple answer in the form of a telephone no. However, he then asked me if I was after malting barley, or malted barley, and proceeded to outline the differences - apparantly the latter goes through a process which gives it a higher sugar content. Anyway, a lot of the info went over my head, having sampled several of his excellent ales whilst watching the rugby. Can anyone let me know the benefits of each, and how you use it, as he has agreed to let me have some of each.
