can this be explained to me, why grizzal hen locked the thread, stating she is fed up with it, do we actually count on this forum for our imput, i can see and agree to a point , but please just because your fed up with it gemma do not take it into your own person realm that the rest of us can not talk about it.

The thread started out about jm couriers service, then it was a discussion about prices, boxes etc, then it turned into a back and forth between Pigeontracker and various other members, essentially an argument. It was disrupting the thread, that is why it was locked.

 

My expression of being fed up, is from complaints that are received about the thread and couriers and certain members. And these topics are difficult to moderate because each side thinks that they are in the right with the view that they have (fair enough) which starts the back and forth.

the thread had run its course and was rightly locked it was not on thread as said Jm Courier , when people resort to calling each other names and been disrespectfull the only way to end this is to end the thread

its a disscussion , i can see your point but you get complaints , thats what running a forum takes, people like to express their opiions, but if someone thinks they are right let them express it, dont just close it all down, timbarra who is my son got band from here because he stood up for himself, maybe you should have closed threads sooner so he would not have taken all the crap he did from other members. who did not know him.

 

i do think that certain people influence your opinion on how this site is run and who uses it, you stated that we should all work together and so should all the couriers, ok thats great totally agree, but do you work together with other web forums.... pigeon chat...pigeon basics.net ?  NO.

 

people who have been banned unjustly should be sent invites to return and threads should be let to run their course as long as abuse does not go on..

I think the courier threads caused a lot of trouble on the site a while back, and the site was over run by them, all or most just causing agro, so I think being careful not to get back to how it was is only good for the site, they even had their own board, but always had to be moderated and was a full time job, so think its best to keep things in order,

So what do you suggest when there is a thread running, a heated dicussion, attacks on members and we receive 'x' amount of report threads about it and pms saying why are we letting it go on?

 

And then you say we should have closed the thread earlier, well then if we did that we would get 'x' amount of complaints, why did you close that thread.

 

At the end of day, you can't keep everyone happy, some people will support your decision and others wont, like yourself. So we can't please everyone

i dont envy your job onhere, but if your not up to doing it maybe someone who is should, its not a judgement on you personally, just you only know if you can do it or not. i think your actually better at it than richard, at least you got the balls to explain and give your mind to a debate and answer questions when asked..

i am sure you are right mate ,as it happens i find my self in the unusual position of agreeing with a lot of what you say  8) 8) 8)[just the bit about been asked not to post but going on to do so anyway thus provoking more rows,PS  its not my job [thank god] but i think timbarra should be back on here [how long does the "sentence" of a ban last for anyway?]by the way in my view gemma great job how you find the time to separate all of us feuding kids and everything else god only knows

Moderators can be here all the time and topics may be missed by us, so maybe something worse has passed by us, thats why we have the report to moderator (or you can pm) to highlight it to us in case we have missed the topic or a post that had bad language or abusive etc.

 

I think with a forum and most things in life, if you are in a position where you have some authority or in this case the option to lock or remove a topic, everyone expects you to keep them happy, which cannot be helped.

 

To do with couriers and banning, its not fair on members involved to discuss this here.

 

What would you suggest for the reporting policy?

i think gemma does an excellent job, ive not been on here long but it seems the same ones that continually cause problems. joe why dont you have your own forum? you seem to have enough to say on the matter.

i thought pigeon racing was one big happy family? sure everybody has thier own opinion and different views but why does everyone get so annoyed and then attack with personal comments. surely we have to agree to dissagree.

there have been several auctions to raise money for this and that, putting the sport in a good light too outsiders looking in but why oh why put our sport in a bad light with all this arguing amoungst ourselves?

suggestions !!!!  well i not entirely sure, its your site and you know what it truely entails to run. i do think moderators do not do the best job, ol yella is ok he seems to keep things in check and would get my vote in the next election for prime minister actually. but maybe we should be given a 3 strike policy , anything with foul language or inflamatory comment is a srike, and have this done and decided by a panel of 5 judicators where majority rule.

I don't think you did anything wrong, it's good to hear about good service and bad. For me your post is what the forum is all about. To provide information to each other. We have all had different experiences with different couriers and it's important that we feed back for the benefit of members. Th problem comes specifically when one courier pigeon tracker wants to put his tuppence worth on nearly every courier post.

I think the rule should be simple all couriers should not be allowed to post indiscriminately after all they have a financial interest .

However I think they should have the right to reply via the forum administrator when they have been criticised. The administartor can then post the reply. The forum is I believe for pigeon fanciers not for businesses servicing fanciers.If the couriers are pigeon fanciers they should be wlcome to post on pigeon matters but not financial matters where they have an interest

As to Gemma being fed up, yes I can understand that. I was one that reported the thread, I have always defended Richard's right to run the forum his way, it's his forum. Being fed up however doesn't seem the way to 'run it', making a decison telling me or anyone else to stop posting the way they are would seem more appropriate.That's my opinion, I shan't comment again.
