my two sons are very happy this week after a small setback. there first 2 young birds have hatched out of a pair of van rijns. there set back was they spent all there savings on a pair of van der rhee pigeons from louella they thought they were etting a bargain as the hen was listed at 450 and they got her for 150 and the cock was also reduced, both 2006 pigeons they thought they had a good pair. anyway after a few days together all they did was fight so were seperated and put into the aviary where the one we believed was hen started chasing other hens. so the pair they thought they were getting as a bargain turn out to be two cocks. i emailed louella 3 weeks ago and have not recieved any reply. wont be going back there again. so they have two lovely spare cocks. :o

If they were not young birds then I see no reason why they were sexed and sold incorrectly - I think that you should pursue a refund. :-/ :-/

yes that was my thoughts the so called hen was 3 years old and im sure they have had pigeons enough years to be able to sex a 3 year old bird i would of fully understood and accepted the mistake even if had been a yearling. my sons are only 12 and 13 and cannot believe they havent even had a reply. they spent there first money on pigeons at a entire clearance sale not so long ago and spent quite a bit of money which they had saved for a long time, there was a couple of pigeons that had been left at the home of the seller and at the end of the sale the auctioneer made a gift of a cheq pied hen that had not been sold and told the seller that he would pay for the carriage, they went out and also bought a cock to go to this hen that they are still waiting for to this day, people wonder why new young fanciers dont want to come into the sport.

Hi mate, had the same problem with a Michael Van Lint pigeon that was supposed to be a hen. They never returned my email so in the end I phoned and spoke with Keith. In all fairness they exchanged the bird and had two Boss Busschaert hens in replacement.

I have some very good pigeons bred down fro a van Rijn Cock. He is out of 438 King. As far as I know birds bred this way are difficult to get now. The only ones I have seen have been out of Kiezer blood.

If you find that yours do alright for you, maybe we could do some kind of a swap some time.

Regarding rings. I am in the WHPU. I can let you some of them if you want. You would have to transfer them later. pm me if you want some of them, and I will get them in the post tomorrow.
