Guest strapper Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 went to the show, price again up from last year..this year £4 entry which i thought was a little bit high. not as many stalls/studs as the nov show, but i spose every ones breeding now. lots of youngsters there for sale average of £30 each.
pjc Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 seemed a lot of people there with a couple of new stands. Always busy and well suported though!

Gail J Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 Hi everyone, just back from show and counted collection for STEPS relating to grasshopper lofts, and I'm pleased to say all welsh cakes gone, and collected £125 for the cause I would like to thank everyone that donated to such a worthy cause, thank you notes will appear in both BHW & Racing Pigeon. many thanks again :)
taffacre Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 For me the show was poor, not many stands, you could walk aroiund the lot in 10 minutes, alright if you wanted something pecific but otherwise poor. didnt think the price of £4 to get in was the right one, even if the raffle included was an ets system.
taffacre Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 you were to busy when i walked past Gail, but i did see you. nigel.
Gail J Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 well you should have pushed in and said hello, ;D yes I was busy all morning
Gail J Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 Yes thanks Paul, see you next time perhaps in November

kirky Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 Did you have a welsh cake ;D ;D well done gail on your total, is the cake called bara brith by any chance ?
Guest strapper Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 who won the ets raffle doubt it was me
les Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 who won the ets rafflesome one called dougy ,he was not there to collect it ,so i told them to re,raffle it ;D
pjc Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 seemed a bit daft giving out a ticket as most will have gone home. They could have predrawn the raffle so people could just check there number against the winners or just give out a slip to complete with name etc and post in a box.
Gail J Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Well done Gail, brilliant Nice to see you albear and thank you
Gail J Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 well done gail on your total, is the cake called bara brith by any chance ? No kirky that's different these are small cakes, barabrith is more of a small loaf
Gail J Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Hi all, I would like to thank you all for your kind messages and especially Phil for putting thread up, yes we had a good day and glad I could help this worthy cause. It was my pleasure to do this for STEPS and any other charity that I collect for, as they say 'every little helps', must think ready for the next show now. As i said on earlier thread thank you to all that donated and look forward now to November show. PJC your daughter is beautiful, not a bit like you
Guest Owen Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 I went to the show as usual and I enjoyed the day out, as usual. I had a natter with Bilco which proved to be very interesting to say the least. I felt a bit sorry for some of the stalls because most people buy through the internet these days. Competion is pretty tough these days. David Parsons was disappearing under the wieght of pigeon sh--, as people brought their samples for checking. I could'nt help feeling sorry for the baby pigeons stuck in those pens. Some of them looked dehydrated and in need of some food and a nice drink. I somehow doubt if many of them will go on to win anything. Of course, I could be wrong. Poor little sods. I wonder what happens to the ones that are not sold? On what I saw yesterday there must have been a lot left in those pens after everyone had gone home. At the end of the day, I hope the show can carry on being staged because it serves an important function, socially if not commercially.
Guest strapper Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 personally i feel there should be something added to the show later this year, something to stop the show being thought of as ( the same old thing)because otherwise it may keep fanciers away .(although there are usually good attendances). i wonder if any fanciers who regularly attend, could suggest something extra that could be at the show to give it that added attraction...and i dont mean pussycat dolls appearing ;) ;D ;D ;D
