DJH Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 I had the same thing happen approx 6 years ago. Pied hen returned after roughing it for at least a yearI let her sit and moult out until the following year, she won 1st club on her second race. Had a Blue cock return from our young bird Open 2007, he returned January 08, he too had been roughing it. He went on to win 1st club in June 08. They ALL deserve at least one chance!!
Guest Hjaltland Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 Nice one Clockie! Great looker as well The bird is looking good.. I'm going to go with letting her stay on, train up with the young birds then race her down the line next year once she's well conditioned and moulted. I will be keeping a close eye on health - I've already administered drops of Ivermectin and will consider treating for canker - although I have to say I'm very surprised on how well she's come through almost a whole year of apparently living rough.. remains of rubber still on leg - didnt realise these rubbers would last that long!
jimmy white Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 one of the best cocks i owned was a bird came home [from a yb] the following year,[three weeks b4 first race] , black,, could even tell it had white flights,,, even that year,,,excelled himself, qoute,,,,," if a pigeon is lost for a long period, like a month or a year,,,,treat it like gold,, anyone who has ever had a pigeon live in the wild and then return home , usualy has a champion on their hands,, nurse it , watch the vitality it has, and the possessiveness it displays" unqoute allthough i was told at the time to get rid of this bird,,, im so glad i didnt,,, it was a good one a very good one
