It works for young birds in the nest as well. More obvious when babies are older than 10 days. I have used the method for years now and have found it to be 95% accurate. The more you practice the with your birds the easier it becomes to identify the sexes

aint it great with all the advaces made in pigeon racing down through years with racing breeding medications  and a lot more and there is still no full proof way of telling cocks from hens what a sport it is as ud imagine this would be the first question that we should be able to answer

the bigger ones are cocks the smaller hens those are all im bred so its not so easy wih them but some cocks are showing already when they settle down with you  tallyho crumpet time
