maybe a rule could come out ,stating that birds over a certain age should be registered for racing, this would stop this full stop!...and clubs be held responsible to registra them. ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D

It wouldn't stop it Paul, because it is NOT only birds that are RACED that get lost. And WHY should it be the responsibility of the Secretary of the WHPU's to "jump in her car and go and get it" (her words).... Too many people in this hobby, sit on there A*se and pass the buck. In my opinion ALL pigeons should be wing stamped with the owners phone number, whether they are stock birds or race birds. The attitude of one poster on here leaves much to be desired, whether he be a wind up merchant or serious.

i fully agree bob...why should gail go fetch it, my own birds are wing stamped and have phone ring on,ive had loads in this year from all unions that havent bothered to wing stamp etc.......i think  there should be a clamp down from all unions on this.gail has enough work to do without running after strays ,that some so and so hasnt put some form of id on it.

if it was within a certain distance then I would have no problem fetching this bird, glad to help, we are looking after 3 birds now that the owners have not yet contacted me.  This bird is with a non fancier and is happy to care for the bird which has an injury on it's leg, but this is not the point, if you are going to ring a bird with an old number then yes WING STAMP PLEASE ;)

personally i think that if the owner cant be bothered to wing stamp or identify there birds then a rule should be put in place that they forfeit any rights to that bird. that bird should then be put up for sales with the proceeds going to a fund to help people start up in this great sport of ours

why whipe the records or even extend them to 15 years

the rules say 10 years so no need to keep them after that which is why you should reregister any birds in there 9th year as per the current rules.

Yes a good idea, I know many a fancier who has won with stray pigeons and some who have founded a loft based on a stray. Not always the birds fault it has got lost and therefore it doesn't make it a bad pigeon.

Most people don't read the rules that's the problem Phil. Only time the rule book comes out for most is when someone thinks another fancier is doing wrong.
