question..what posts are not allowed on the notice

Well said Strapper. It seems a lot of high handed nonsense to me. Why not have an adult dialogue with a person to resolve misunderstandings rather that behave like a parent dealing with a child. Surely, it is bound to cause resentment. I think it would be a pity to spoil a very good and worthwhile forum just because someone wants to show off.

Firstly, we are not able to be online all day meaning that we may miss some posts, say something that should be on chit-chat. Also moderators are members too so may want to get involved in threads or have pms to answer, taking their attention away from topics being posted.

Generally if I personally see a topic on the notice board that should be somewhere else, I will leave it on for a bit, normally when it's fallen off the portal and thenmove it to the correct board. The one exception that I have to this is jokes, football/rugby and other obvious chit chat threads. I will move these straight away as members should know that they are for the chit- chat board and not the notice board.

Please also remember the time it takes to move threads as you need to read them and then decide which board it belongs on.

One thing I feel I must say, is that we are damned if we do and damned if we don't.

Maybe a good thing to do is to look through the boards before you post, an obvious one would be, I have a lost bird, so post it on the lost board. And remember that the portal shows all the boards not just the notice board, so threads on other boards will always be there.

after having a post removed because of the theme...race and result news of that day,i fail to see why some posts i would deem as chit chat still continuing to remain on the notice board ?

also a good few that should in my opinion(if usuing the rules) be in other sections of the site.

i feel this is where members get irritated by their posts being removed.

im not aiming my post at anyone in particular but in general.

if there is to be equal treatment of posts then i feel that there needs to be a clearer show of this.

this would help in making the site more sociable and make members less likely to feel that their posts have been removed unfaily. :) :)

strapper,, on the pb rules,, it says members are responsible for their own posts [not the mods] if you read the very first post on" sticky" on the notice board , this was to simply remind members that on the racing pigeons thread,, there is a posting for race day,,,this is so all members can look back on their various races and results etc,, far easier than post it on main notice board , where it is soon "lost" in the pages , as they go so fast, then dissapear through the umpteen pages,,hope this helps

the mods are only human (except jimmy) :-), and like they say if there not online 24/7 some of the topics can get swallowed up, i havent been on all weekend and im still trying to catch up with whats been going on, have been on here 2 hours now, and it is really difficult to read every single post. so please help the mods by trying to place under correct section.

Paul I agree with you in principle. I feel the site does not have enough moderation for the amount of members posting. We hear, and quite rightly so, that the Webmaster and moderators have a life outside of pigeon basics. It has also been said by all the moderation team that they don't read all the posts, which is understandable. The thing that gets to me is, that we are all expected to sing from the same hymn sheet (i.e. rules) but, because every individual has his/her own way of interpreting those rules we get inconsistency. Likewise Moderators also have their own interpretation of the rules and what may be acceptable to one Moderator is deemed unsuitable by another, hence this is where problems occur. Quite how this is solved, I don't know. Perhaps one way of solving this is to have ONE Moderator who sorts through new threads and places them under the right category, and then a specific Moderator is assigned one or two categories in which to moderate. This way I feel that there would be more consistency of control, and everyone would be a lot happier.

There is a system in place where posts can be "reported to Moderator" but I read with astonishment by one Moderator that these all go to the Webmaster, and are then dealt with. Is this really what happens? If so then that cannot be fair on Richard/Gemma. I would like to see this facility changed, so that any "Report to Moderator" complaints are sent to whichever Moderator happens to be on line at the time. This will speed up the response time. If this cannot be dealt with by the Moderator, then it is sent on to the Webmaster to deal with, and a pm sent to the person who has complained, explaining the situation.

this , i beleive to be a very fair statement, but must explain,,,no posts are ever deleted,, if taken off by any mod, they are placed on a special webmasters thread,, [ with the reason],, if the webmaster deems these fit to back up,,,they do,, ALL POSTS ARE SAVED most are merely changed to the proper category,, as it says at the top of the main notice board,,,, if not sure post here , mods will put them in the right slot,,but thats if they have the time  :)

i wasnt aiming anything to anyone, just i think that some threads stay on here for days and days and others are removed same day,it dont take someone a lifetime to see that the heading should indicate that it would belong somewhere else.

i dont usually complain about anything but i feel this needs airing :)

this i also feel true, but really up to the members to pm a mod [anyone on at the time] you would find it would be rectified quicker, this way

Bob, the report to moderator button isnt something that can be amended by anyone on the forum as it is an e-blah feature hopefully it is a feature they will change in there next update.

Chris, perhaps Richard can make it a recommendation, to the "host" to be changed on next update.

Jimmy I understand what you are saying. What gets peoples backs up is "LOCKED" threads, that remain on view for all to see. It is like dangling a carrot to the donkey, knowing full well no one can never get to it, and consequently someone starts another thread up along the same vain. Perhaps Locked threads should be "off view". JMO. We all know what DOES happen or what is deemed as etiquette,, but there is always room for improvement.

headings can be misleading and as has already been explained some threads will get missed, we are only human and there are pages upon pages of threads on the notice board and as pigeonpete explained, if you haven't been online for a couple of days then you need to catch up

this, in fact, nearly came to this a few years ago,,

but as bob says constructive issues are valued, and all consrtuctive aid is an aid to the site
