lithgilad Posted May 23, 2009 Author Report Posted May 23, 2009 this is very true i only had 1 out of countless birds in last 2 years that have come in with wing stamp so we need to either change the rules or adhere to them strictly cos it seems a joke at moment
Fife_pigeon_wife Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 who actually checks the flights for a phone number? now everyone be honest
Guest strapper Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 well how come a report a bird they give me the owners phone num so a can call the owner soon as ow and a .lost a bird with 3 flites stamped and it took the finder 3 weeks to to phone me birds must be stamped on both wings...mine are stamped on two different flights on both wings. i know birds lose flights and stamps fade ,clubs need to stamp(pardon the pun) out birds being sent if this is the rule in that union.

hotrod Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 One of ours arrived home this evening minus it's race rubber - well at least we know it's been in somewhere! But why would anyone feel the need to remove its name & phone number ring is beyond me? :-/maybe it hit something and the rings got torn off ? it can happen
weecunny Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 i always check the flights 100%..so do many of my club m8s as i found out by them asking wheres the code from and stuff. well if they called the number on the wing the owner wid have told them where the code was from
Guest strapper Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 well if they called the number on the wing the owner wid have told them where the code was from they do ring them...asking about the code is just through speaking to them each day..as most of my club m8s are my close m8s.

pjc Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 who actually checks the flights for a phone number? now everyone be honest first place to look for a fancier but general public wouldn't think to look!
Guest strapper Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 i think the word for wing stamping is ... taking RESPONSIBLITY...lets all help one another out!
pjc Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 i've lost count of the times i've had a stray in, looked at the area code and sent the bird home in the right direction when fit! Much less hassle sometimes than having to listen to the excuses owners come up with if you ring them!
gd Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 union ring is all thats needed IMO Jesus wing stamps, ets ring, union ring, telephone ring, clip ring, no wonder the buggers get hawked - surprised they can take off wi all that weight
Guest Owen Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 Deep down, the real reason we are having trouble getting people to stamp their birds is that they don't want to send for them if they get lost. I have found that there has been a awful lot of problems getting owners to accept that they have to have their birds back. As far as I am concerned there is a rule in place and we should all abide by it. And if a bird is reported the owner should send for it or run the risk of being suspended. The best way to prevent birds going astray is to make sure that they are up to the job, both healthwise and trainingwise. the days of putting them into a race to loose them should be over.
Guest SkyMaster Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 Weecunny i was putting the birds through on friday checking for wingstamps and most the stamps ya couldnt read anyway. Any i cant read this week are getting tossed out the door lol your white didnt fly very far after you tossed it out it must have wanted to go lol why dont they have to wear 3 id rings? just incase they come off. Mind get them all stamped this week cunny! lol ;D
Guest chrisss Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 i put name and address rings on, its the first place a "civvie" would look when he/she finds the bird, never on the wing [not that they ever get reported but what the hell you have to try]
Guest SkyMaster Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 Good point non fanciers dont know to look on the wings its pointless.
