There have been cases of PMV in this area and there have been a lot of birds culled or have died. Some have come from a well known Stud in Britain and a lot have come from a well known Stud in Europe. Others have been bought in from various Breeder/Buyer sales.

I suspect that a lot that lived are ruined as racing pigeons. Who knows what internal damage has been done. I have been vaccinating twice for PMV for some years now and I have not seen anything in my birds. Every year, for years past, I get cases of YBS. Usually about two or three. In the beginning I worked at trying to get the sick birds to recover, but I don't any more. They are damaged and the are lost in the end. It's just not worth it. This year I have tried out some new ideas that I have worked out. Up to now everything has been fine and there is no sign of the illness. I know that there is a long way to go yet, so it is a question of wait and see.

I have to admit when I was in the local suppliers about five of the customers were talking about a breeder near here that had supplied a few of their mates with YB and they were all poorly and lost not only the YB but a few other birds in thier lofts too.  I know I was really glad not to go to the breeder as I had considered it when looking for YB
