Guest Paulo Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 Hi all have been asked by my club to research into getting grants for ETS. One suggestion given was the coalfields regeneration fund. However their funding info specifcally states that pigeon flying clubs aren't considered for funding. Obviously the obvious one is lottery funding but I have heard that is getting tightened up and hard to obtain moneys any suggestions?

Guest Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 I posted the piece below on chat in response to others who were having problems, you will see at the question have any RPRA clubs had a grant in the past 12 months, I don't think so? I would be interested to know if anyone in the SHU, WHU or NEHU has made an application under the new rules since April 1st. I completed an application for our club last summer but at the time decided not to apply because of the problems with the proposer and seconder rule. I decided to wait until after the AGM of the RPRA for the rule change. I then asked the ETS supplier for a new quote everything else was ready to go. The quote despite repeated requests did not come until April 5th, a new application procedure was due to come in on April 1st. Consequently a new application had to be drawn up, it was not as good as the first, the first form allowed for plenty of detail , the new was far more limiting. Anyway I eventually got it in for May 28th. The new guidelines stated that they contact me for more info (if necessary) and give a decision within 30 days. 23 days later nothing. I sent an email off asking if we had dropped out of te system just concerned I had heard nothing. I had a reply about 4 days later saying we should hear by July 3rd but would probably be 6th. Two days later I had an e mail from a Charlotte Bull (Birmingham office) saying thank you for our application and that she would be making a decision within 30 days. Last thursday had a letter from her telling me we had been unsuccessful. I was peed off because had absolutley no contact, I had not demonstrated that the community wanted our project. I thought there may have been some communication questioning asking for more proof if there issues of factuality. I suppose one of the issues is what is a community, for me our Tiverton club is a community in itself, just as the Tiverton Polish community is who were successful in their application. I think this is a political decision that is being made but I'm not sure why. I have noticed that the Welsh clubs and the NEHU clubs have regularly had awards, but since the very early days before the lottery commision stopped clubs because of the proposer and seconder rule RPRA clubs have been rejected. I would like to ask is there any RPRA club that has had an award in the past 12 months, I have as yet not spoken to the General Manager but I intend too becasuse thia is an issue that I think he needs to take up. After all this is an awards for all system but it seems to be an award for Postal codes, i.e. dpends on the area you live?
Guest bigda Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 i think its to do with the Olympics, and the millions thats going to cost,a white elephant IMO but as usual the awards for all, are only there for the hotels, pubs, and vendors in London, they only need to shake the tin once and it given, the ballet, and arts never have a problem
Guest Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 As far as I am aware a grant from "Awards For All" could be awarded to any newly formed club provided they are not affiliated to another organisation at the time the grant is applied for. In other words the way I understand it is, if it is an existing club and affiliated to the RPRA a grant award is very unlikely.
