rasbull Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 How long you the birds exercising each time they are out?
Guest shadow Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 two to three weeks before racing starts daily from 20 to30 miles
Tropicman Posted May 4, 2009 Author Report Posted May 4, 2009 yes they've been in darkness around a month or so now and they sometimes are gone for half and hour to an hour say today they were up for 20 min then landed and tokk off again for another 20 mand they did this all day.
kirky Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 i would not train them till after you have taken them off darkness,
Guest Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 leave them to do what they want if you start to train you will stop them dead from ranging around the loft and that is very important to them plenty of time for training 2/3 weeks before 1st race

john nico Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 well what i would do is keep them in, then start letting them out 3 weeks before the first then train them 2 weeks before the first race becuase you can easily blow them out and dont forget there your team for the next couple ov years with you just starting up
Tropicman Posted May 6, 2009 Author Report Posted May 6, 2009 well there already out and have been ranging but were guna wait till around 3 weeks before the racing season for young birds start then were guna start training. (Y)
jimmy white Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 i think theres a difference from training and tossing ,, training comes first,, i,e teaching them to be at ease and drink and feed in the basket, making sure their flying well b4 tossing [ranging] keeping them under controll etc,, but as far as tossing, if their ranging well, about 3 weeks b4 the first race,, any younger birds can be started at 10 weeks old
