Power moult, darkness

Just pick your brains on these two.

 

Forget you have a race to go to, you are going to power moult your birds..............What do you do

 

 

Forget you have a race to go to, you are going to moult using the darkness system ..............What do you do

 

 

Not after your secrets I am after the theory the system how it works, how long etc.

the theory of darkness is that your birds think it is winter months dark nights & dark morning, thay only have 8hrs of day light from 9am till 5pm this lasts till the longest day 21st june it is about 8 weeks thay will have a full boddy moult but will not moult there main flights.

So all body feathers but not wing and tail ye ?

 

So its not a stress moult its a moult brought on by  fooling the bird into thinking a season change.  It takes around 8 weeks to replace full body feather.

 

So how does the power moult work you know ?

i understand the power moult is to do with pulling flights and is practiced in the USA

Where its practiced, who does it, whether its right or not is of no iterest to me !!!

 

When you say puling feathers does this mean only the wing / tail flyers that are pulled are replaced or does this trigger a reaction which begins a full moult ???

they do use it in the usa they pull the 4th and 8th tail feather and it sends them through the moult as they put it with darkness the yb after body moult looks like a yearling but with a ybs tail hence pulling of tail feathers to moult through and have stronger feathers

I think there has been an article written on here somewhere but its of no interest to me so i've never bothered to read up on it.
