peterpau Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 Don't go till the race birds are home, evenings are best for me and I go saturday or sunday.
kwango Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 far to soon let them do what they want and play around. dont make them old before there time. they are still babys
Guest chrisss Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 better not on a saturday mate [ best not at the weekend fullstop]give them some more time
blaz Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 teach them young in my opinion i will be given my 1st round some training in the next week or so probably 5 all together from 10 mile then i will stop them till its time to train them for yb program. we all have different views on this . a lesson learned when young will hold them in good stead when older. just my opinion. the 1st time the birds go will be on a very nice calm day if we get one.
jimmy white Posted May 17, 2009 Report Posted May 17, 2009 i would say a little early,, the weather at the moment far to unsettled,, would maybe let them grow a little and have less stress for the moment,, could allways be basket traing them ,,learning them to have less fear of the basket, and be able to eat and drink in the basket,, but good luck to you anyway,, in my experience with pigeons,,,is that def. patience pays in the long run ,, but,, many roads lead to rome p,s saturdays are dodgy days to toss yb,s , with so many libs going on
Tropicman Posted May 17, 2009 Author Report Posted May 17, 2009 well folks they did go for the chuck around a mile and a half to start and they all came back within the minute we let them out for an hour before the chuck got them in basketed them and took them, when they returned they stayed in the air for another half an hour and were ranging further than usual we took them around 6 to try and avoid the majority of the racing pigeons which thankfully we didnt loose one so they will be trained slowly and the distances will increase over time but all went well for the first chuck
