Ordinary fly spray will kill them, but may be OTT as moths can not do any harm in a pigeon loft, and they'll be dying off soon enough..

yes agree with IB I use household spray in all the cracks and around the top of the loft inside, you see all creeping out,

i had loads in the summer they was doing my head in, i would burn the loft out and spray then they were back within the week even had 5 bats flying around the loft when it got dusk after them.

Some moths will eat away at the feathers on a pigeon and leave permanent holes in some of their flights, definitely taboo in the fancy world and i don't think it would do racers any good if their feathers get holes in them :-/

Moths don't have chewing mouthparts so they cannot eat anything. Whatever is causing the holes you see, it's certainly not moths.

Where you have moths you will have larve, I am sure that is what does the damage not the actual moth :-/

No. Where you have female moths, and something for caterpillars to eat, you may get moths laying eggs on it. Pigeons preen their feathers regularly, so chances would be slim of eggs remaining attached to them?. And anything that crawls, like lice, a grub or caterpillar, has every chance of being eaten.

I have seen pigeons covered in lice so they ain't that good at preening and eating them, maybe the same as moth larvae, I will ask my husband to take pics of a bird tomorrow to show you holes in feathers caused by then being eaten and I was told by a few well known and respected fanciers who have seen these birds that is the case, they may be wrong of course :-/

i burnt bleach and steam cleaned my loft but i still got moths. i used to use valpona bars years ago but they went off the market. any idea wot to use

if the loft is dry,, spiders webs will appear, these actually [in my opinion] do more good than harm,, eating moths [you will see them in their webs] also feed on red mite , flies etc etc,, natures way lol :)

but allthough an ordinary fly spray will kill these, they will also kill the moths and flies etc,, i find it does no harm whatsoever to the birds,,,, as long as their out, when you use it, :) ,, the ordinary" big d" cheap house-hold fly spray contains the same ingredient  [permithiron, spelt wrong :)] as does the pigeon insect spray,, but less than a fifth the price  :)   a true scot ;D
