tango_kid Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 Hey, just wondering, if you were to have a rabbit hutch say 5foot by 2foot by 2foot. And were to completely strip it and put in some perches and mabye an aviary on top oif the same size, how many pigeons would it hold?? Thanx Mike
Guest Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 half a dozen youngbirds , failing that six. andy.
Guest Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 I would say 6 birds too if they were allowed their liberty, otherwise I would cut it down to 2 pairs. Over crowding is one of the root causes of many of the pigeon ailments.
Guest Owen Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 1 pigeon per 38cu ft of space is the ideal. 5x2x2=20 cu ft. So bearing in mind you have a aviary, one pair. The real deciding factor is what you plan to do with your pigeons. I have 6 widowhood cocks in a space which is 6x6x6. They have plenty of air and are bouncing with health. At one time I would cram 16 into the same space and wonder why I could never get them to find form. We all live and learn.
tango_kid Posted July 7, 2009 Author Report Posted July 7, 2009 A bit of a difference in opinion here!!
wilkins Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 shortest length or width (in feet ) times it by 3 , with plenty of vents so in this 2 X3 = 6 birds
