I went out to my birds this morning and the water was frozen solid. Seeing as this is my first winter with pigeons are there any tips anyone can share about getting through it and is there anything I can add to the water to prevent it freezing over.

Thanks in advance

put the drinkers away from air vents and in a box with only 1 open side for access. Best to empty at night if you can but if you are unable to then try the above.

thought this thread was about an old alky that didnt make it thru the night ?? ....... have been threads about this before . some solutions were to set drinker bowl in a polystyrene moulding .heaters under drinkers etc . but i think the best solution is (if you have the time)s drinker out an hour after feeding ,and replace fresh again in the morning.               andy.

Thanks guys, will do that, any other tips for me?

could try heat pads , but as said try to keep drinker in a place where its not so cold in loft , or a very small amount of salt or a ping pong ball on top of your water ;)

as bob said empty drinkers at night or add some glycerin to water,

that is what is the base of anti freeze and does no harm. ;) ;)

if it is cold enought in theior to freeze the water is it too cold for my birds? should I be insulating in some way, cutting down on the ventilation a little?
