Why not use an electric fence unit. Cats can never get used to it. It works with deaf cats. It works with other animals. It never sleeps.

And it will not annoy the neighbours. Finally, and I like this bit, you can switch it off for long periods after it has trained the local cats.

I have offered you this idea because I can never trust the onces that give off the sounds. That is because I know of quite a few cases where they have not worked. I am sure that determined, or is that hungry, cats will bypass them.

I looked at the electric fence, couldnt get a price on the internet, i,ve to call the suppliers for a price. I am aware that there are deaf cats and the alarm wouldnt work, which is no good obviously. I,ll look into the fence though. ;) Thankd for the comments though much appreciated.

I got one from B&R good few years ago, called Animalchaser, pretty cheap £20, but pretty limited operation, 50 feet, so doesn't cover the whole garden. I use it to create a sound barrier along the full length of the front of the loft to stop cats going in the open door. They would need to cross that barrier and so far, so good. Frequency alternates 16KHz to 23KHz variable emission to prevent animals becoming used to it. Does dogs, cats, squirrels, rodents.

Quite fancy the one that senses motion and squirts a jet of water. Not sure how I would avoid get soaked though.  :)

As others advise, electric fence appears tops. Would go for that if I needed improved protection.

I had 2 German Shepards and never had a prob with cats but they both died last year aged 15 and the wife decided to replace them with a chock labradoodal, talk about thick I think it must invite every cat in the village to my garden to a pigeon scaring party.
