mart_1986 Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 hi lads anyone know what the rules and limits are to have a loft in the backyard i have just moved from stoke on trent to motherwell.1 of neugbours said they would complain if i had pigeons in the back garden so i need permission before i start thanks mart
Guest KING BILLY Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 i think you will have to aply for planing pemistion and take it from there thats wit i had to doo when i moved to newmains just up the road frome you there was one of the naugbours that complaned but it takes more than one and by the way he was a doo man ;D ;D ;D whare about in motherwell are you the club will help you but stay away from buckie king youl have to lock up the wimen fock ;D ;D ;D

Guest bakes Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 hi mart when i started up i asked local council to see if it is the right distance away from the houses they sent an inspector out anything over 12ft needs planning permission get the planning permission and approval via local council your neighbours havent got a leg to stand on i dont have any problems as my neighbours enjoy seeing my pigeons out one other thing i would say is look at your house documents mine is private if it says no poultry/animals you might have a bit of problem but my friend managed to sort it out when he had problems via inspection from inspector as long as its 16 ft from any houses and dont take up a cercent percent of your garden you should be ok mate best of look look forward to reading your write ups how u got on when season kicks back up all the best k.baker

blaz Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 hi lads anyone know what the rules and limits are to have a loft in the backyard i have just moved from stoke on trent to motherwell.1 of neugbours said they would complain if i had pigeons in the back garden so i need permission before i start thanks mart your neighbor next door both sides and the one directly behind your loft.if all 3 are ok about it unlucky for any of the rest.there is also a law in Scotland that dates back 100 year plus.that you are allowed to keep fowl ie chickens ducks pigeons in your garden. not 100% sure but i think this law was passed so as the common man could help feed his family.it is also a valid law as when i was told about it years ago by a fancier he used it to beat the local council

Guest IB Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 Size of loft and local authority house means you need planning permission for the loft, and [probably] permission to keep pigeons, check your missives for a standard animals clause, which usually says something like 'no dogs, cats, pigeons to be kept on the premises, unless permission expressly granted by landlord [council], this permission will not be unreasonably withheld'.
