What does the term "stock birds" mean?

 

and is there any other terms that i might come across in this sport that i probly (as a new and young fancier) might not understand?

stock are birds that you breed from hopefully there retired racers that have won or from good breeding , or birds bought to breed from which could be too expensive to race ;)

'feeders' this a term for a 'foster' pair of pigeons that incubate/hatch eggs from elsewhere. :)

squeeckers :)  babies :)

dropper,,,,, a bird used to encourage a bird in quickly after a race :)

pot eggs ,, false eggs to keep them sitting, if need be :)

Roaming, Striking Off. When pigeons go off in various directions, out of sight, and then return and go off in another direction, as opposed to flying around the loft in circles.

strapper...a stray bird belonging to someone else...may have a wing stamp with ink. or a telephone number on a plastic ring on the leg.
