blaz Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 i dont use maize when breeding.as maize is a carbohydrate it is also sharp one end.it is not easy for the parents to regurgitate .i think it could cause canker with it being regurgitated and scratching the parents throat.this is just my view
Guest peter.j Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 maize is good for them in cold weather as it generates body heat
Guest stb- Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 do u buy a mix or make ya own fOR BREEDING I MAKE MY OWN , 1 bag beans 1 bag barley 1 bag poultry rearars pellets fresh grit an kirkpatricks black minerals . and clean water . Have found this to rear the best young birds over the last 35 years.
David048 Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Hi - i think it's best just to buy a breeding mix. No maize in there so to me that says it all. As you say they leave it even when they are hungry.
