Guest TAMMY_1 Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 As I have to work full time I have limited time in the loft, I normally spend 1/2 hr first thing (6.30 am) doing drinkers then about an hour scraping floors of a night, (7.00pm- 8pm) this means that on my day off and Sunday it takes all day to give the loft a good thorough clean, for example today its took me about 7 hrs in there with doing all boxes and cleaning and dressing the floors , loft is 24ft x 8 im NOT complaining by the way, but wondering if im been too fussy keeping it clean, any time saving tips appreciated. How long do you guys and girls spend cleaning ? Normally takes me about 90 minutes to sort my 3 lofts, but double that just now as I am doing six,and it is best not" fussy" to keep them as clean as you can, so keep at it mate

Guest Freebird Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 To clean or not to clean? If the birds are healthy then I don't think it matters and is just down to personal preference and time available. I clean out once a day as I have the time to do so and don't like a messy loft. As long as they are not feeding from floor they will be fine. Even lofts that are cleaned twice a day will harbour germs and bacteria ( unless you have nappies on the birds, ha ha! ) so I don't think it makes any difference if you clean every day or not at all and birds will develope better constitution, I think. Clean food, water and grits etc. are more important in my view.
