Just make sure it a smooth finish (power floated) and allow for a slope so you can powerwash it, then use virkon s on after.

If you do not have a wire mesh floor you will find that on wet days your birds will be ankle deep in sloppy muck. I think it is very unhealthy. I have a mesh floor laid over a concrete slab. It has lip all around and a drain to take the water away. The perches are of the pole type which causes me problems. Again, when it rains there is sloppy mess on the perches. I wash them off a couple of times a day with a hose that is fitted up nearby but I still do not like it.

My other problem is that the youngsters will hang about outside in the rain and carry the wet back inside the loft. Then the bedding gets damp, which is definately not good.

I have an aviary with a concrete floor, If i had the cash i would get grills for it and have them 6" off the floor. If it rains, there are slugs and slug trails all over the place, they seem to love concrete floors. I was told that slugs carry tapeworm. Not had the problem but it is a warning.

Good luck
