Guest strapper Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 teaspoon of redband on morning and a touch of hemp about 1 ish basket at 4 i have the birds out in the morning feed a normal type feed but slightly less ...by 12pm...basket at 4.30 if its a good few hours on the wing then i could feed by 2pm..depending on predicted weather. i feed a high protein economy mix...clear water on basketing day.

Guest WINGS 04 Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 yeah m8 old birds then ybs when there season start. What system are you racing the old birds as for the young birds they will get all they need out of tic beans and mapels with some hormaform in it till one month befor racing starts then feed a racing mix for yb hope this helps
Guest bakes Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 mate i personally think you giving them to much i give mine yb or oldbirds 1 base corn mix then i add to it threw out raceing, resting, breeding one thing i got told from a very good flyer that holds his own every year keep it simple as if somethink goes wrong you be able to put your hand straigh onto it were it went wrong then learn from the mistake all the best.
shaun h Posted April 6, 2010 Author Report Posted April 6, 2010 thanks for all the advice guys i feed young birds on young bird mix only now and then ill give a bit breed and ween or barley not as there main feed just as tit bits .i have got my four old birds on the round about system they only see each other on friday afternoon about half our before basketing or if they come of a trainning toss mixed(which has been last training toss but was out of my control both were let up seprate but got back mixed.) i trap through open door on cock section and release for excercise out of hen section both let out seprate and when they are out loft is lock up till i want them in .
