pjc Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 its not the way to do it! I've come accross a bird recently tethered being used to train a hawk, took the finder an hour to get the fishing line from around the rung pigeons legs!
Guest Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 What's one compared to the thousands of racings pigeons slaughtered. Hardly justice
Okitsme Posted May 6, 2009 Author Report Posted May 6, 2009 Its people who have no consideration for a life.
pjc Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 Its the racing fanciers that instantly get the blame, it doesn't look like a racer! Do tipler and tumbler flyers also not suffer so why do raceing fanciers always get blamed?
Guest bigda Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 totally shocked, as to what these falconers will get up to, trying to steal the hawk for profit and sell it abroad i suppose, they have a dam cheeck and trying to blame the honest pigeon fanciers of northern Ireland i have heard falconers in the pub say they can get £3,000 cash easy for one of them peregrines, and where is the protection of all birds they seem to think its normal that they are allowed to eat all types of birds bar them selves :-/
Guest Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 Yes I agree, I don't condone using live bait, that is sick. I hardly think any pigeon fancier would subject one of his birds to that. More likely to be someone wanting a young BOP as a pet
Guest spin cycle Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 totally shocked, as to what these falconers will get up to, trying to steal the hawk for profit and sell it abroad i suppose, they have a dam cheeck and trying to blame the honest pigeon fanciers of northern Ireland i have heard falconers in the pub say they can get £3,000 cash easy for one of them peregrines, and where is the protection of all birds they seem to think its normal that they are allowed to eat all types of birds bar them selves :-/ JMO but i think you're spot on. if falconners use tethered pigeons to train then why not catch....the young hawk was missing (no body) and was the pigeon laced with poison ?
Guest bigda Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 them hawk boys are clever they would know where to look for the hawks and they have a website all of there own where they exchange info on hawks they trade in them all the time wolf :X in sheep's clothing springs to mind : every year we hear, but not convinced that eggs are taken from ospreys nests that the army gaurd, or sas then out comes the rspb with there collection tins
the pigeon_milker Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 how come people are shocked by things like this but when the powers that be get away with killing thousands of pigeons and other birds with poisons all over england and no one seems to care or not notice ?
OLDYELLOW Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 pointing finger at fanciers ????? it might be a BOP enthusiast trying to get a breeding pair

Okitsme Posted May 6, 2009 Author Report Posted May 6, 2009 Using a pigeon as live bait is sick. What makes the pigeons life worth less than their own.
Guest numpty01 Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 its come to the point were a falcons life is more important than a human life how maney muggings and assults committed in that area ??how many police resouces to find the perps ?how many hours and how much money wasted on protecting birds which are in abundance in this country ? god what the hell is wrong with this country but most of al us fanciers :-/ :-/
the pigeon_milker Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 Using a pigeon as live bait is sick. What makes the pigeons life worth less than their own. yes tyeing any prey down like that for wot ever means is sick but so is the way chickens are housed before they die but we still kill and cook them for dinner without a care for how they live there lifes there is a deferents between killing something and being cruel to them in life or death

Guest Freebird Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 i think its nothing more than rspb propoganda another piece of good PR work by them....FANCIERS BLAMED AGAIN!!!! B@LL@KS...... I agree and it's shocking so called bird lovers doing this to a pigeon.

I dont eat any type of fowl, although I must confess that I still do enjoy other meat.
