kev01293 Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 a fancier who is being constantly harrased by hawks/percy suggests in this weeks rp (letters page) that a convoy of go slow vehicles would be a good way of getting people to sit up and take notice im sure al lot of fanciers have already read this letter-what are your views on a go slow convoy and do u think fanciers would take part? i for one think its a great idea kev
pjc Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 the fuel convoys protests didn't acheive anything and fuel prices effect far more people than BOP's do! Personaly don't think it will get the support!
Guest strapper Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 get a load of feral pigeons and let them go at every hawking exibition to make them hawks behave badly....method in the madness ;) ;) have a small basket and let them go in amongst the hawks... ;D...but film it so we all can see .
Guest cowboy Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 if we all keeped our birds in all over GB for a mouth say starting oct 1st would hawks/percy starve ?
Guest Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 if we all keeped our birds in all over GB for a mouth say starting oct 1st would hawks/percy starve ? I have suggested this before and been shot down in flames. Probably by a small minority who have not been affected or never witnessed a hawk attack on their own birds.
Guest JPH Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 if we all keeped our birds in all over GB for a mouth say starting oct 1st would hawks/percy starve ? very doubtfull they would find other sources but a few years would make an impact

blackdog Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 if we all keeped our birds in all over GB for a mouth say starting oct 1st would hawks/percy starve ? cancel all racing for 12 months and better keeping them in for 12 months.
kev01293 Posted August 31, 2009 Author Report Posted August 31, 2009 just think of the chaos a go slow convoy would cause especially in and around the m25/london areas nobody else is gonna help us thats for sure we cant just sit back and do nothing ive had more than one of my birds given back to me by neighbours after being hawked who were totally unaware of the hawk situation one neighbour looked at me as if i was mad when i tried to explain what had happened she didnt even know that hawks live in towns/cities and was adamant that a cat had got my bird ( do they think i like running around my garden screaming like a wailing banshee )we have to make the public more aware of the what these bops are doing to our birds and wild birds cos nobody is gonna do it for us and we are fast running out of time if this years hawk strikes are anything to go by
Guest cowboy Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 i think 12 months is two long that would kill the sport right off pepole wont feed that long not to race
Guest bigda Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 on a go slow how manny drivers are going to love the pigeon men
pjc Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 if your going to keep them in for a month then time it when there eggs are hatching, the young won't survive and they may even start canabalism!
blackdog Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 i think 12 months is two long that would kill the sport right off pepole wont feed that long not to race bops gonna kill it of if you dont, 1 month wont make any difference, beleive me, we have tried it up here in cumbria.
Daisymay Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 Heard a comment on the radio this morning from a rspcb inspector,Birds of prey are beautiful and my take the ODD pigeon its cats that pigeon fanciers should be looking to.Unfortunatly until these people take on board what fanciers are saying then I think it's a lost cause.
