joe61 Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 i see in the star today mr david bills of rpra is calling for a cull on BOP i think he should get the backing of fanciers in the uk NOW i take my hat off to him now is your chance to make an effort lads and help oh happy days
Guest spin cycle Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 i think asking for a cull is unrealistic at this stage...but full credit to david bills for taking the argument to the rspb...and in the national press again. the more times it said the more the public will come to realise the damage being done to songbirds.
Guest bigda Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 thats they way forward. every week press it home, then you will get a interview and then you can get the pubic on board, once you tell them the truth about the decimation of the bird populations in the UK by the over populated bops
Thimbles Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 the BOP must have fridge freezers the amount of pigeons that has went missing this year
Guest strapper Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 what the action needs is tv airplay. with a responsible celebrity saying they are behind us and to bring out this history of lies we are being fed by the rspb. and show decimation figures of songbirds and their like.

Lets get jack out of coronation street
Guest Owen Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 spin cycle you could well be right at this time. But surely we should all back whatever Mr Bills says now that he is taking our situation seriously. Up to now, no-one has tried to do anything except talk so I must applaud Mr Bills for getting on with the job. There has been plenty of criticism about the lack of action in the past, so let us not do anything to spoil things now that there is some action at long last. I know that I will do everything I can to help and suport him in, what can only be described as, a very difficult job. Now, the other Unions should get in there and lend a hand with the fight to get some sanity into our stuation.
Guest strapper Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 Lets get jack out of coronation street actually that aint a bad idea...
Thimbles Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 Why would they cull birds that they are still releasing
willow Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 Since the soaps on tv take on issues and turn them into programs that millions of people watch . An idea would be to write to Granada and put forward a story line for Jack who everyone loves to say why his pigeons are missing and not comming back , he could start something going on about BOP and get the public interested . Or you could write to him about comming onboard and getting more publicity for Pigeons against BOP . Just a thought .

willow Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 A small mind you have ......just ask me ! If you don't get someone in the media on board you won't get the coverage yourselves to do anything . It's all talk and no action and when someone gives an opinion you love to critisise it .So Just ask me ... i am asking YOU ......what is being done seriously ? Since you are so smart about laughing ...........

Since you are so smart about laughing ........... was meant as a little joke noting more sorry u took offence i take the bop situation as seriously as anyone and probably even more than most i do my bit and if u think about it it might not make a bad story line maybe Tyrone (think that hes name) and his Mrs haven't a clue of her name get stuck for a few bob and jack bales them out by sending one of his birds to a one loft race takes a top position maybe if people can see how serious this sport can be and the money involved and how competitive it is then we can fight the rspb but not till then i feel can we put up a serious fight as our image at the moment is flying rats i hate using the that term but in a lot of peoples eyes that what we have
willow Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 I have not been on here very long and as i have said i am a complete novice to the pigeon world but i am learning a wee bit at a time .When i read the posts it all seems to be about the BOP and what you can all do but nothing concrete is taken place that i am reading . Lots of suggestions but not much going on . If you want to draw attention to anything these day no matter what the problem if you do not have a celebrity or someone in parliment on board you will not get the attention . Any cause be it health like Cancer is made more aware of if someone in the media is behind it working for the cause . I did a sponcerd walk last year for Diebetes and Liz Mc Coldrum the long distance runner was supporting it and was there at the start of the race . She was making people aware as she was a media person . So write to Granada or Jack alias whoever and see if he will be the media person on behalf of the pigeon fanciers plight against BOP .

Guest Owen Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 willow you are making sense. But I think there have been too much of people making suggestions for others to impliment. I am afraid we have to go at the pace that is being set by those who are actually doing something. Mr Bills being one. With situations of this sort there are many and various views which have to be taken into account. The trick is to go at a speed that takes everyone along. If anyone does become too enthusiastic and decides to break into a sprint it would cause division and arguement. And that is something we can do without. This is a case where the story of the hare and the tortoise applies, I'm afraid.
Guest spin cycle Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 we have tobe careful as we the British never like the word "Cull " , control may be a better word , its all about getting are message over to the good women & men on the streets of the uk good point
