peterpau Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 So I paid good money, for the sire of an RPRA award winner, and he turns out to be sterile. Paired him to two different hens, or at least the dam to RPRA pigeon and one other. Both hens bred young with other cocks. Any ideas please.
peterpau Posted August 3, 2008 Author Report Posted August 3, 2008 2002, not old me thinks. I have a black hen from 2000. and she breeds super youngsters. I hope you agree merlin.
ChrisMaidment08 Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 well i would ask for money back unless you took chance on him
OLDYELLOW Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 chop his tail off his tail might not be as fexable any more
ChrisMaidment08 Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 2002, not old me thinks. I have a black hen from 2000. and she breeds super youngsters. I hope you agree merlin. well i stand ashamed on my advice he is young and maybe eager
peterpau Posted August 3, 2008 Author Report Posted August 3, 2008 Don't you take a chance on every pigeon you buy in. I aint being rude but they don't come with any sort of a guarantee.
ChrisMaidment08 Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 no i agree when i read i did not see his age he may not be stiril just to imature on the job in hand
pjc Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 do you know when last produced? Trim him and hens out and boost his vit e intake will help.
peterpau Posted August 3, 2008 Author Report Posted August 3, 2008 Bred last year. None for me this year. The seller when questioned said he had him on some fertility treatment last year so he didn't miss any eggs. That sounded the alarm bells.
OLDYELLOW Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 apparently if you give them a smartie it helps them , have heard it but never tried , iodine is good for fertility juice some spinach leaves or some dried seaweed
peterpau Posted August 3, 2008 Author Report Posted August 3, 2008 Now heard this smartie business the other day. What's that all about.
harryhoofter Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 a know this might sound daft but have you tried quarter of a viagra down its throat,it has worked in the past with some of my old stock
harryhoofter Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 Now heard this smartie business the other day. What's that all about. hes on about the blue smarties, which are now banned because the additives that give them thier colour sends people hyperactive
Merlin Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 2002, not old me thinks. I have a black hen from 2000. and she breeds super youngsters. I hope you agree merlin. Pure stunners Pete, sent you P.M. Wheat Germ Oil contains a good deal of Vit E,and is reckoned to be extremly benifical in some of these instances.
peterpau Posted August 3, 2008 Author Report Posted August 3, 2008 Hmmmmmmmm now how do I explain to the doctor I need some viagra for my blue pied cock.

pjc Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 The other thing i've been told by an old experienced fancier is to disolve some jelly babies in hot water and put in the drinker!
OLDYELLOW Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 viagra for pigeons ? you have to be checked for heart conditions , not a route id go down could give it a heart attack
pjc Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 you could also of course ask what he was given last year and give him the same as there must be a problem for previous owner to want to use something on him!
peterpau Posted August 3, 2008 Author Report Posted August 3, 2008 Thought he might get a stiff neck if it got stuck any way
Guest bigda Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 i yous ;D ;DViagra it stops me from falling out the bed :P ;D
harryhoofter Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 Thought he might get a stiff neck if it got stuck any way ;D ;D ;D ;D it will work ,what have you got to lose, try it if nothing else works :) :)
jimmy_84 Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 i would ask the previous owner why they used fertility tabs on a younger bird and what did they use and then give it a try but i know an old fancier near me has 10 y/o cocks still filling eggs with no treatment
