birdman55678 Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 I recond most have noticed at one time or another that some ybs when hatched have orange feet while others have black feet. Has anyone kept track to see if the orange or black fly better than the others. Wonder what causes this, I suspect it has to do with the actual color of the bird but I am not sure. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas. thanks. Ed

Guest Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 My mate reckons you will never have a good pigeon with black feet, and we did look at 80 Yb last year between both lofts and everyone bred with black feet had gone by the end of the YB season!! He may be right!?

Guest Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 sapper time to take note I reckon, when my partner told me last year that birds xy & Z would be no good at 4 weeks old, I queried him, he told me he had never had a pigeon with black feet do anything and they would more than likely all be lost in their first season. I did not disregard his view because he is one of the few people I have come across who can select the best pigeons in the hand, so we did keep a look out and at the end of the YB season there weren't any left and we both had very good YB season's, I reckon he's probably right, no doubt though there will be the exception to the rule! We shall of course keep a look out again this year and post on the site at the start of the season those that we breed with black legs and at the end of the season report on their progress. Would be good if others did the same?
Guest bristolkev Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 i`m gonna look at that this year and take note.
Guest shadow Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 the best feet are the first back on race day regardless of colour
birdman55678 Posted December 20, 2006 Author Report Posted December 20, 2006 I have tracked my birds this way for the last 3 years. I am going to discount this last year as with the move and all I can't trust my bad results in the new concourse. This year I will continue it. Not counting the last years my results have led me to believe the black feet are not to be counted on. Its not 100% though. Ed
Guest Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 Shadow ...to extend your thopughts the best oranges are the best oranges regardless of colour
