Good pic

I like Corel Draw, and I think it is best to get your bird in a plain background, the easiest to pic out is blue, you will find it very hard to get the feet right due to shadows, it can be done but a lot of work. Or you use a lighter base which will reflect the light up under the bird and detail the feet better

Pm me if you need corel draw :)

Here are some samples,

Notice now detailed the feet are :)

These ones are easy just get a blue plastic box. turn it on it's side, plenty of natural light if possible

Crop the picture

Fabulous photos of the birds.  The blue background to photograph is an excellent tip.  The wife will have a go at this as she is doing a photoshop course and wants to manipulate photos for her cardmaking.

Blue is one of the easiest colours to mask out, on coral draw or photo shop,

I use corel draw because that is what started with when I was doing designs. I beleive photoshop has excelled a bit better according to my brother who was a professional photographer at one time :)

So tell the wife to stick to photo shop by his accounts :)

Andrew !!!!! If I was you  :P :P :P I would be very pleased with your 1st photo attempts above (Seen a lot worse) & if you take some of the good advise here from Dovescot etc, you could be a man to watch in the future. Re "photo's" & I can see you having a terrific amount of enjoyment/pleasure in your yard, fine tuning your photo's so to speak, of your pigeons etc.

Enjoy.

If you are looking to cut out the pigeon and place on a different background you can use a photo editing suite like photo shop that has an edge finder option in its cut out programme and then paste onto whatever background you wish.

The racers are Busshaerts, Logans or Rollands, thanks for your comment :)

Digital, either a Fuji s9600, s5000 for quality or an fd50 for easyness as it can fit in your pocket, pigeons are tame so yo can get right up close to them. It depends on what you want. I enjoy taking pics of the birds in all situations,

where if you want to sell birds then this is good enough

If you want to impress and look professional then you can crop and add it to anything you like, depends what you want to sell :)

I think at the end of the day buyers want to see a nice healthy pigeon, and you can only do this when they are happy and relaxed the rest is just marketing.

THE HEADLESS ONE IS NOT FOR SALE, WE FOUND AGAIN ;D ;D ;D

Brilliant photos Dovescot.

How do you get the bird to stay in the box and stand sideways?   :-/

Just let them settle and relax, or take loads and pick the best one, use a judging stick (old car arial does), patience or just sheer luck.

Our birds are quite use to us handling them and sometimes put some peanuts in the box so they are not scared to go in it or of it.

All new birds are kept in a quarenteen hut are fed everyday so they become used to us as well. Chickadee is better with the birds than me, but she cannae take a pic ;D ;D ;D
