must say i agree with you sammy , but there are some fanciers pick things up quicker than others ,,,,,,, i would say experience is not the time you have with the birds,,,,,, its what you" put in to the time" you have with the birds, :) :) :) must say i enjoy your posts ,,whoever you are  :)

EXPERIENCE IS LEARNING BY YOUR MISTAKES AND TURNING THEM ROUND TO YOUR ADVANTAGE

Got to be the eyesign theory for me,whenever i purchase a bird for breeding i only go by the eye also when i pair my stock birds i try to pair them by the eye only,it as worked for me.

I also believe if you only get one theory it must be eyesign, as its the only one that can tell you about everything you need to know about the bird.  Ed

does that mean if the bird has no wings the eye will tell you that

I would have to think that reseraching your stock birds pedigree would probably be the best indicator of how good a bird they are.

Granted i'm only starting.

What theory do you swear by for breeding, racing ect!

Racing the young of the pair is your best bet. They could have all the above and still not breed winners, they could also have none of the above and be supper breeders. One of the worst birds I ever held was a hen called the sissi bred by Gaby Vandenabeele it was like a big starling and it was one of the best breeding hens ever.

I'd agree. Research is the starter's best theory. Although in my opinion you've posted the second step: in my opinion the first is to find out who's winning regularly at the distance you want to compete at, then find out what they're racing, and how they're bred and raced.

winners breed winners spot on ;D

winners dont always breed winnersive had quit a few good ones and found in some of them couldnt breed birds to even score never mind win,but knowing the family when putting there children to stock there the ones that churn out the winners, thats why maybe you see many winners for sale in the B.H.W as to they have found out that they dont breed winners  ?

I agree with Schouwman some good race birds just cant breed have had 2 hens with 10 firsts each could not get young birds past training. Have my own theories seem 2 work for me when picking breeders had two open winners last season.

I dont think you can swear by any theory alone apart from the race results,

that says it all, but i believe the list above does show into the race results, and are apart of the make up of a good pigeon.

would go along with this , but would maybe add ,,,,you never stop learning about pigeons and ,,,,,you only get out of them what you put in to them
