Internet Book : The Art of Breeding

Link gives access to Steven Van Breemen's translation of Alfons Anker's book 'The Art of Breeding'. Runs to 18 chapters and I am not sure if it is the complete book, which was previously available by subscription only.

Anybody with an interest in breeding winning racing pigeons will find this especially helpful. Alfons Anker was responsible for breeding the modern-day standard pig, but he was also a pigeon fancier who rubbed shoulders with the Old Names and constantly refers to them and their breeding methods. He was interested in race horse breeding and refers constantly to English thoroughbred racehorses, especially from the point of view how the winning lines were bred. The genetic side deals exclusively with characters and not colours (so not really one for the show people) but in terms readily understood by a layperson rather than a genetic scientist which Ankers undoubtedly was.

Although a good taster of the book itself, these articles are not the complete book which from memory ran to 128 chapters (some as little as one paragraph), but it is downloadable by subscription.
