Guest joshdonlan Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 For the past few weeks a neighbours all sorts of strugs, strays and street peckers have been landing on our roof and loft when i let my birds out. What can i do about this as i dont want them bringing any diseases in? I have been throwing tennis balls at them, but they still come. Should i tell him to sort this problem out or take things in to my own hands? > Thanks for the help
pigeonpete Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 Hi are these birds his? or just birds that land in his garden and feeds? :-)
Guest strapper Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 neighbours are a big problem , you either have good or bad ones when the birds are concerned ...i got a clubm8 who hasnt flown for over a year or so and last year his step daughter(14-15) stopped me topping the fed ...maybe having 3 in the 1st 5..verified by 2 other clubm8s...so im not exagerating. i wont go into what happened but you have to give and take and if his birds are at fault then you politely say something ...but if these birds are coming to your loft when you let birds out he cannot be blamed....does he have his birds out all day?
Guest cowboy Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 when and if street peckers come in my loft they dont fly out (evil)
Guest joshdonlan Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 he has them out all day, yes they are his and every time mine leave the loft theyre over. He may not be seeing them next time they come ;D
Guest briancol Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 i have the same problem, a neighbour a few doors across from me must be feeding the street pigeons as they sit on his window sill most of the day then when i let mine out they are straight over, all i can do is get mine in as soon as they land, i dont want them mixing with mine either.
fletch Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 I have a problem with the street birds, as i live on the back of the park and some people feed them directly behind my house on the park. On sunday morning they come in there droves i counted 44 last sunday while i was waiting fopr the young birds to come from training, they occasionly come with my birds but has u say they dont go back out, the only thing u can do is speak to your neighbour and ask him to trty to controll them, If he dont i would take control of them.
pjc Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 they are only coming to your loft and in with your birds because they are not being cared for. Mine may fly with my neighbours but i've never had a single bird go in with his nor have any of his been in my loft. Speak to him politly but does he race or just keep them for pleasure? You could say you have had a complaint from a neighbour thinking the birds out were yours so maybe before he gets a complaint he would like to get them under control!
Guest joshdonlan Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 Yes PJC i may just do that. He keeps them just for pleasure, but theyre all sorts fantails, westies racers all sorts. I had 1 in last night, needless to say it didnt come back out.
pjc Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 its people like that who give the genuine fanciers a bad name, especialy if there are birds left out sitting on roofs etc.
