maverick Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 If you think with her being a cross you will not get the money for her at the sale PUT HER up for sale on here
john@formula 1 lofts Posted October 8, 2009 Author Report Posted October 8, 2009 No Maverick it is not about how much she makes or does not make the debate is more will people want to buy her as they do not like crosses I do not think she will make much as she is a cross yet my partner thinks she will as she is so well bred. We shall see who is correct come tomorrow night Lol
Guest Owen Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 I don't believe that there is such a thing as a pure bred pigeon. And I started out with birds I bought from various lofts. When they arrived they came with the pedigrees. To me the pedigrees are a waste of paper and tell me nothing worth me knowing. Since then I have only bought birds with performance behind them and I have insisted in having the prize cards with them. Now that is what I call a pedigree worth something to me. My breeding is done by pairing the best to the best regardless of the strain, or is it the claimed strain. Most birds come from the Continent these days and the Continentals certainly do not hesitate to cross their birds very frequently. So, in my case, everything is crossed with everything. No inbreeding here. My attitude to crosses is, that I would buy the bird not what it's relations have aledged to have done. But, to get me really interested the bird would have to have done something on the road. I will freely admit that I can not tell much about a bird's ability by looking at it. And I believe that it is only 25% of the birds reared from even the best parents are up to the job of winning races. So to answer your question, I would be just as likely to buy your cross as any other bird. And, if I liked it, I would pay as much as any other bird.
