Guest frank dooman Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 Wow, thats dedication! Is it not just easier to give them long grain rice or lettuce??? now your talking
Skull Lofts Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Regularly syringe birds, old and young using a 20ml syringe with a 2-3 inch very thin tube right down into the gut with REHYDRATION only (not water) , but only when it is extremely warm weather and can assure 90 % of these birds are first home from the race. ;) Hi Davy Sorry for the dumb question, but whats REHYDRATION? Skull
Skull Lofts Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 do members on here believe in injectin water down the throat ov their racin birds b4 the go in2 basket b4 they go 2 their clubhut 2 go on the race ahead ? I have done this plenty times but stopped after i noticed that it did not make a difference!
REDROCKET Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Before basketing for shipping--I hold he bird--the wife fills it with water--Then they do not have to stop for water. But in Texas they have to race in 40C-100F Temps. the temperature is much the same here in scotland don thanks very much. ;D

Guest IB Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Up to fanciers what they do to prepare their birds for races, but in my opinion, tubes etc is OTT. As YBs mine have Friday nights in the race basket during the OB season, when they are fed and watered. On marking nights, I give my birds a light feed of barley and brown rice a few hours prior to basketing.
