jonjon Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 hi all which for u is the best method and have u found an difference between them eg amount of loses returns
ChrisMaidment08 Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 natural and loss.s i think are same whatever you fly but with natural i let them have open hole so lose few from home hawks
carlsberg Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 i have never tried the darkness system so i cannot comment on the losses but it really depends on if you want to win with youngbirds or if you feel that it is only training for them
Tony C Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 This hasn’t happened to me personally but I’ve heard of a few occasions where fanciers have had teams of darkness young birds unwilling to fly. Come the time to train these teams they haven’t gone running/ranging subsequently big losses from these initial tosses are encountered. I don’t know if its a health issue or a management issue why some teams refuse to fly but on all occasions losses have been big and results have been poor. Now on saying that I fly my young birds on the darkness and since I have my losses are on par if not less than teams flown on the natural method.
Guest IB Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 I do not fly Darkness so cannot comment on losses. What I can add is that I was involved in the Federation YB strays system for one season, a few years ago. I think that the majority of the Fed flew Darkness that year, so that would explain the majority of the strays being Darkness youngsters. But one difference I did find in them, and could not explain, was that while the Natural youngsters had retained a reasonable body, many of the Darkness youngsters were reduced to big bags of skin & bone.

Perhaps the natural young birds chucked the game in quicker?
