do not feed them in the morning open the door and let them wander in and out stay with them at all times when you want them in call them and then feed them

i put a large board underneath my sputnick trap

open the front and let them wonder in and out about 1 hour to start

open top of trap let them drop in if they want

let out just before normal feeding time

get them into the habbit of comming in at feeding time

one or two might have a flutter round garden or house roof

dont worry they will come back

Just wondered what age your young  birds are, and can they see outside the loft, for example have they spent time sitting in a sputnic, or in a cage on the landing board or on top of the loft?

Might sound strange, before you let them out, make sure that they know the way back in.

have 13 latebreads doing the same with them now

just starting to fly round shed two dissapeared

came back before it got dark

sometimes they might stay out overnight

usually back first thing next morning

you will be surprised how quick they learn.

Sound advice as per usual from IB. Birds tend to loose thier brain in a strange environment and if they don't know how to get back to (safety) then it is a gamble. Get them in a routine of in and out before letting them out.
