hello all my young birds are flying from the loft to the house roof they come strate in as soon as they hear the wistle ,had a go at throwing a tennis ball on the house roof today to get them to fly but all they did was move to next doors roof  the problem ive got i live in a row of terraces how long will it be before they start to fly round home and how do them members who live in terraces manage there about 8 weeks old thanks ryan

the young will go when it suits them, throwing at them already will only spook them, let them have a look around and to get their bearings.

i live in a semi detached house and find the more you try to keep them off your roof the more they will wander off over to next doors and next time they will remember you cant reach them there!

They don't sound as if they are properly on the wing yet, so I wouldn't be chasing them, they'll take off themselves when they are ready.

 

You also need something a bit softer than a tennis ball, risk doing damage to bird, windows etc if your aim is off.  :)  Wait until the birds have scouted out their home area and are well on the wing before you try keeping them off the house roofs.
