Guest gladdo Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 yeah but i would nt worry about it as they over shoot ... when they get lost they get very well educated i think so not to worry .... well done lads glad to hear all going well ...g.etting them used to it main important thing ...mikey
Guest mick bowler Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Had mine took out first toss this morning to ballinrobe, the next big town over the mountains, around 36 miles as the bird flies and near 50 by road. I'd say birds must of flown near 50 to go around the mountains too. Let 2 lots of 10 go, first ones took 75 mins the second bunch nearly two hours. But all home now.
blaz Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 1st toss 9-10mls......same again tomorrow. i am 10 for my 1st one. reson i asked is i am not that keen on the 1mile 3mile and so on give them 10 mile any time for the 1st one for me
Guest strapper Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 i am 10 for my 1st one. reson i asked is i am not that keen on the 1mile 3mile and so on give them 10 mile any time for the 1st one for me one good thing is..there is a dual carriageway and they follow that up back to my town...so we all train from that place..it leads directly to us. going by what some experts feel they do.....follow road lines/rivers etc.
Guest Owen Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 I trained 13 late breds today. Dropped 2. You win some and you loose some!! :'( :'(
holmsidelofts Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Hi owen. We have 2 away from our older youngsters yesterday as well. We went on the transporter with others for a training toss yesterday to get them used to breaking from the bunch, had a really good toss they came well, responded to the call when the 1st bunch came over, must have been about 150 birds in that bunch and we pulled 15 from it so pleased with it, Im sure we will see the 2 today if the weather breaks. speak to later. Jas.
Guest Owen Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Hi there Jas, my late breds had their first taste of what it is like to be a racing pigeon yesterday. It was their first toss from 6 miles or so. Dropped one, but it was back this morning. Sitting in the rain waiting for it's breakfast. It was one of my young Lambrechts. I hope she will learn from the experience. :-/ see you Owen
